Thrust Minstries started as a vision in the heart of a Ugandan youth and as he followed God's call on his life over the past 17 years, a powerful and vibrant ministry has impacted people across the globe.  Mike Wangolo is the founder and director of the Uganda-based Thrust Ministries and has been in ministry since 1986. He travels with a team of Gospel musicians, and has ministered in Africa, Europe, and the United States. His heartfelt desire is to see his generation turn to the living God and he preaches the Gospel without compromise to those God has directed him to. Mike realizes that many creative methods can and should be used to open people’s hearts. Therefore Thrust Ministries is involved with numerous Uganda projects that help meet practical human needs and also works in cooperation with other ministries and organizations in the United States and abroad.

Born in Uganda, Mike began Thrust Ministries during the time that his country suffered under the ruthless dictatorship of Idi Amin. During this period of war, persecution and great hardship, Mike gave his life to the Lord Jesus Christ. Most of his childhood was spent being sick without an unknown disease. At the age of 12 the doctor informed his parents he would not live past the coming week. His parents had not yet come to the Lord, but he had been hearing about Jesus from standing outside the local village church. One night a man from the United States named Pastor Rich was preaching in the church and Mike was drawn in. “Just maybe,” was his thought. This pastor prayed over Mike and he made God a promise. He went to sleep that night with “Just maybe” running through his thoughts. After that night, Mike never again experienced symptoms of the illness. Six years later when Mike was 18 and had experienced that pain of war personally, he remembered the promise he made to God and devoted his life to God’s work and will.

Mike brings the unique flavor of his country with him as he ministers to churches and in special meetings. His confident vision is that believers from many cultures will rise up with him in reaching his fellow Africans, and the world, with the Gospel of Christ.
